Free Patterns and Stitch Markers to Giveaway:

The free patterns (yes more than one) this month are the Knitcrate Yarn Bowl and Accessory Bag by Molly Conroy. ($9 value)

  • These are cool totes and the pack comes with an instructional video on felting.
  • I’ll be giving away my promo code to a lucky reader. See below on how to enter.

The fun extra are Stitch Markers by Crimson Orchid Designs as I stated above. ($8 value)

  • The set of six very cute stitch markers, unfortunately for me, can only be used with knit (crochet needs opening to attach and detach to projects) so I’ll be adding these into the giveaway below.
  • They are made with silver plating and feature Czech fired polish crystals in various colors.

Soak as a lotion.

Soothing Extra:

The soothing extra this month is a Handmaid Hand Cream by Soak. ($10 value)

  • Shea butter, olive oil, and vitamins A and E team up to nourish skin.
  • Has a sea breeze scent of Aquae
  • I’m usually very sneezy around strong scents (can’t go into a Bath and Body Works), but the Soak brand hand lotion is mild enough to not make me sneeze, but strong enough to keep the scent around for hours. I’m really loving it!
My favorite LYS (local yarn store) brand!!!

The Yarn:

I lucked out more than ever this month on my Knitcrate. I received three hanks of Malabrigo Worsted Weight Yarn. ($36 value)

  • Malabrigo is my favorite yarn store brand. It is the softest 100% merino wool with the most intense color palette. Just look at the apple green in the middle!
  • Plus it is very reasonably priced (for an independent yarn company). Each 210 yard hank is only $12 each. Which if you visit any local yarn stores regularly you will know that most independent yarns can run much more than that.
  • For special gifts that require a beautiful yarn, this is my go to brand. However, I think I will be making something for myself this time.

The Giveaway:

So I will be giving away the pattern pack and stitch markers to one reader (US residents only — sorry). To enter, leave a comment below on your favorite yarn brand.

Entries close June 30th midnight Pacific time. The winner will be announced July 1st, 2014.

I’m still new to knitting and crochet, so I’m not super familiar with all the specialty brands yet — I’m just starting to veer from Bernat and Lion Brand into the Malabrigos of the world 🙂

  • Claudia Nieto

I’m new to the knitting/crocheting world. But I have to say I am in love with Yarn. I dont have a favorite yet. But I told my husband (newlyweds as of June 14, 2014) that he needs to convert my mini office into a office/ craft room for all my yarn/supplies!!! He didnt ask for a divorce so I guess he’s a keeper. 😝.

P.S. No Yarn store in Mexico. 😥

MY favorite yarn wow might be easier to say what isn’t my favorite haha Top pick is Knitpicks Brand in Chroma Worsted Yarn its so soft and fluffy and the colors are beautiful

  • Jodi DeGeorge

So many yarns to choose from… This month’s favorite is Madeline Tosh, but last month it was Jilly. I’m glad you didn’t ask for a favorite color way, that would be too hard! Thank you for the giveaway !

Mirasol or any alpaca yarn. I’m not super picky as long as there’s some alpaca. It just slides so well on my hooks and needles.

  • Kay

Hi, I wish I had a favorite brand of yarn. I have only been crocheting for a year and I am still looking for one. I have been enjoying Deborah Norville Serenity® Chunky Prints because they are so soft and come in beautiful color combinations.

I’m a baby knitter, and have yet to venture into a dedicated yarn shop! I’ve been making baby blankets and accessories for a few years, but I have yet to venture much further than some basic acrylics and baby yarns. This week, I am going to my local shop, where I’m sure to find a new favorite. Wish me luck!

  • Wendy Faustin

I’m kind of a new knitter only a few years. I don’t get much yarn from the fancier yarn shops much but one brand I really like is Patons. I love the classic worsted.

  • Jennifer

I love Alpaca yarns. My stash includes several skeins from Berrocco and recently I finished a project using HiKoo’s Rylie. 🙂

  • Christel Y.

Only one favorite? That’s tough! Lorna’s Laces is great, the Verdant Gryphon is also lovely to work with!

  • Linda

Since I’ve been out of work I picked up crocheting again and then I got into knitting pretty heavy, I haven’t been able to get any really good quality yarn for now but I did win some Sport weight Yak down a while back. I’ve been holding onto until I find something special to make with it for myself. I do like sock yarn too.

I love me some Malabrigo but the yarn that I find myself always lusting after is Twisted Fibers Evolution yarn. I love how customizable the yarn is as it’s all made to order. You pick the fiber, the yardage and the color way. Evolution is one LONG gradient which is ideal for shawls and sweaters (a quick Rav search will have you drooling over projects for sure) and the awesome folks over at Twisted Fibers will custom hand dye the yarn to suit your yardage requirements. TL;DR: Twisted Fibers is AMAZING! 😀
