Yarnbox June 2014 Reveal
The newest Yarnbox has arrived. Read on to see what is inside!

Designer Trading Cards
Not only did we get two fabulous patterns as always, but this month Yarnbox has a new feature.
They are now also including a stitch pattern they say works fantastically with the yarn they have sent. Unfortunately it’s a knit stitch pattern so I’ll have to take their word for it, but it is a cute stitch pattern for you bi-craftuals out there.
Our knit designer this month is Iris Schreier and she has provided her Wavy Shawl as a free pattern as well as 15% off in the Art Yarns pattern shop. ($4 value for the cowl)
The crochet designer is ACCROchet and her Ski Bunny pattern is super cute and free! She also gives us 30% off in her Rav shop. ($5 value for the hat)
Yarn Time
The first two hanks are Art Yarns Supermerino ($20 each hank value)
The 100% super soft merino wool has 208 yards per hank. The two hanks have a coordinating color between them (see it better in the video below) which can make for a very cool project. Or keep them separate and make two super cool projects.
The third hank is probably the most beautiful yarn I’ve ever touched. It is Artyarns Beaded Silk Sequins Light. ($24 value approx.*)
It’s a 100% silk that has Murano glass beads and Sequins dispersed throughout. As you can see from the picture, they don’t skimp on the beads. It is so beautiful I can’t wait to make something out of it.
*I say approx. value because this is a kind of “sample” hank. It contains 40 yards (plenty for what I’m thinking of using it for), and the regular size hank contains 110 to 160 yards depending on where you purchase it.
This month’s yarnbox is a beautiful mix of fibers that I am so thankful I get to work with. Plus the value of items inside far outweighs the price. So another successful month!

I was also amazed when I open the box! The yarns are beautiful! I was disappointed too about the pattern being knit!! But hopefully I will find a pattern for these beautiful yarns. I am knew to crocheting and not that creative. I am glad to see they are starting to add another card with a pattern for the yarn that is sent, when I first started to receive Yarnbox I questioned why the pattern cards sent didn’t work with the included yarn and I was told Yarnbox wants to see how creative people are. I had told them I am not, that’s why I signed up for the deliveries because I thought the package would contain a kit that would work for both knitting and crocheting. I stayed with the deliveries because I love the yarns! I love your blog. I has inspired me to really get back into crocheting. 🙂

I agree with you Linda. I was hoping/expecting the patterns provided would be specific for the yarns received. I tried searching the internet, artyarns website and ravelry for crochet patterns using the yarns we received. Unfortunately, most of artyarns patterns are knit. I’ll just have to spend a bit more time on the search, probably on ravelry. You can search by the yarn and then see what projects people are using them for. I didn’t have enough time to give it when I initially searched. Maybe tonight 😉

Thank you so much! I am working on coming up with mostly free pattern workshops for the yarn I receive so that others can benefit if they are not finding crochet patterns to go with the yarn like you, so stay tuned. I’m working on something right now for the beautiful beaded yarn. 🙂

This month was my very first Yarnbox. I received the very same yarns as you. I’m totally in love with the beaded, sequined silk, but not sure what to do with just 40 yards. I thought maybe adding it to just a few rows along one edge of a scarf maybe. I’m very interested to learn what you are thinking of doing with yours.

I like that idea too. I’m working on a solomon’s knot necklace made out of the yarn (or possibly pairing it with another special yarn). I’ll put up a video once I finish it. 🙂
