This monochromatic owl basket is simple and chic with a twist. Itβs generous size (28 inches around by 12 inches high) can hold three full size rolled up towels. But donβt stop there! Use it to hold toys in the kidβs room, or odds and ends in the living room. Using thick yarn it is sturdy and can stand up on itβs own, yet can collapse flat when not needed.

I love this pattern and I just completed the basket portion today. It worked out perfectly! I’m about to start the eyes and I was just wondering if I should still use the 10mm hook with 2 strands or change to a smaller hook to keep the stitches tight?

Hi! I purchased this pattern on my Kindle. It looks great and simple. I just want to make sure i understand the amount of yan needed. 2 skeins of yarn at 478 yards each …. total of 956 yards total?
The local stores don’t have the brand of yarn you listed, do you have any suggestions of another brand? And bulky 5, right?
Deja Jetmir
Hi there, yes the yardage is correct. You are working with four strands of the yarn at once to make a really big basket with minimal stitches. A great substitution is to use two strands of super bulky and use half the yardage. I love Lion Brand Hometown USA for baskets. Just be sure to use a hook that makes the stitches as tight as possible so you get a sturdy basket. π

Thank you and Happy Labor Day β‘β‘

Hi there. You will stick with the 10 mm so your eyes won’t be too tight. π

I was looking for your owl basket pattern for purchase, but whenever I click on any of the links or pictures it brings me to a “oops” page. Where can I find your pattern to purchase?
Deja Jetmir
Hi there, sorry about that. That post has an outdated link. I just updated it and here is the current link:

I live in Australia and just purchased your pattern, love it and can’t wait to go out and get some yarn to start creating. I have two young nieces 8 and 5 and I thought they would love these to use for storage in their rooms. Thank you for sharing.

New to crocheting. What does it mean when it says by recommended yarn: “5 – bulky”. Is that a kind of yarn, or amount of yarn needed, or ??
crocheteverafter
Hi there, great question. when you read a yarn label you will usually see a picture of a yarn skein with a number inside. That number corresponds with its weight. So a bulky weight yarn will have a “5” inside the picture of yarn on your wrapper. So I put both the number and the weight so you can find a yarn to work with the pattern easier. π

How much approximately is shipping on this basket?
crocheteverafter
Hi there, it’s free shipping (it’s an instant download), but it’s just the pattern, not the finished basket. π

Just bought the owl basket. How long does it take to get the pattern email to me?
crocheteverafter
Hi there, you should receive the email with the download link right after payment. Have you not received it yet?
Katie
Yeah haven’t see it yet I even check my junk mail.
crocheteverafter
I just resent it. Let me know if you’re not seeing it. The subject line is “Your order is ready”.

Do you really crochet with 4 strands together of super bulky yarn?
crocheteverafter
You sure do. π The four strands makes the basket nice and thick and able to stand on its own. It also works up really quickly because the stitches are so big.
Chris
Thank you very much. This is a wonderful pattern π
