Spike Stitch

The Spike Stitch is a fun and relatively easy crochet stitch pattern. Using at least two different colors you get the effect of spiky stripes, but you are just doing single crochet, strategically placed, throughout.

This stitch is reversible and dense so it’s great for a wide range of projects, from blankets to placemats.

Suggested Materials

This stitch can be made with a variety of yarns and weights. Even fun yarns like boucle or eyelash can work with this simple stitch pattern to show off the color changes. See acouple of recommendations below.

The “Zen” Tutorial

This is a new series for my video tutorials. It is completely voiceless and just plays very relaxing music as it walks you through the stitches. Each stitch is worked very slowly and multiple times so you can see what needs to be done. There is a written pattern to follow along with and helps you to work on your crochet skills with limited interference.
