KnitCrate March 2014 Reveal ~ Plus Win a Free KnitCrate

The red package has arrived and my newest KnitCrate is so awesome that I’m stopping all other projects I have going to make a pattern with the yarn that was included. Check out below to see what I got and get the details to enter to win your very own Knitcrate.
KnitCrate March 2014 Int/Adv Knitter Kit

As always I will breakdown what I got so if you want to subscribe you can see the value firsthand. I also buy all of these with my own money, so you will know that my reviews reflect my own opinion and are unbiased in anyway.
This kit was $55 USD and the value was well worth the cost.
So let’s get started:

The KnitCrate this month came with not one free pattern, but three! ($13.00 value)
They are by the Feel Good Yarn company and the first one (the clever mittens with working index finger) is great for the yarn that was included. There is also a sunhat and pair of cute slippers. No crochet patterns yet, but I’m still hopeful.
The card also includes some great promo codes (remember you need to subscribe to get the codes, I’m just sharing what you would save if you did):
1) 50% off any single pattern by Andrea RangelΒ ($3.00+ value)
She has some beautiful knit patterns for all kinds of projects.
2) 20% off Silverspun Yarn and Kits at KnitCrate. ($5.00+ value)
This is the super cool yarn that came in this kit, so I’ll talk more about it below.
3) 25% off any Rowan Kit at KnitCrate. (16.25+ value)
Some very cute mohair kits are here. For crocheters like me, we can buy the kit just for the discount on the yarn.
The fun extras ware from Image Stitchery (exlusive to the kits, don’t see them for sale anywhere).
They are cherry wood ruler/needle gauge combo. One to attach to my bag and the other to keep at home. They are beautiful and will come in very handy for many years to come.

Next up, Torrie & Howard Organic Hard Candy in Blood Orange and Honey ($4.99 value)
These are delicious and the tin they come in can be used for notions after the candy is gone.

The yarn is Silver Spun by LanaMundi Yarns. ($25.00 a skein value)
This yarn is 87% combed cotton, 11% silver and 2% lycra. Let me haveΒ their website do the honors of explaining this very cool yarn:
The silver content in SilverSpun makes it therapeutic and conductive. Silver kills a number of bacteria, including those that cause odor, has excellent thermal properties, is nontoxic and is perfect for those suffering from diabetes, arthritis and sensitive skin. Silver is also an excellent conductive agent thus allowing smartphone or tablet touch screen use while wearing gloves knit from the yarn. The silver is permanently adhered to the yarn and will not wash out.
Just in case you are wondering, there is no strange metallic smell to the yarn and it is really soft (not scratchy at all). Did I mention it came with its own project bag as well?
I will be making something from this very soon, so be sure to follow the blog to be notified when it’s ready.
Check out my video reveal below to see my experiment of using the yarn to navigate my iPhone.
