Have You Ever Wanted To Learn To Knit???

Maybe you saw a scarf or shawl you absolutely loved but it was made in knit and you just didn’t have a way to learn that was comfortable for you. I know I did.

I found this scarf (which now I know is made in a very basic knit pattern) and I felt I just had to make one. So I went on a multi-year quest to learn to knit. I got some books, and I couldn’t for the life of me figure it out. Then I got a mini tutorial from a knitter at a crafter’s conference. I thought I had it, but went home and lost some stitches and the whole thing fell apart and I couldn’t figure out how to start it back again.

I gave up for a year to two, content that I at least knew how to crochet. But, again and again, I would see these beautiful knit patterns that I wish I could make, and of course, wear. So, I tried again. This time it finally stuck, I searched out every class I could and learned all the tricks and tips that were keeping me from succeeding.

So, why should you care? Because, I want to share all the knowledge I’ve learned so if you want to learn to knit, I will help teach you. And the great thing that I can do that many knit teachers can’t– I can give you crochet lingo that will help you grasp some knitting concepts to help you learn even faster.

So, for the next week, each day I’ll be releasing a new video to teach you a basic technique of knitting which will culminate in the pattern of the scarf that I mentioned at the top — the one that inspired me to learn to knit.

What if you don’t knit or crochet and you just happened to stop by here looking for some guidance on which one to learn.  That is my first video. I’m going to go over the pros and cons of each craft and why you might choose one over the other.

Then tomorrow’s video will go into supplies that I recommend for beginners learning to knit and why I chose these items over others.

The rest of the videos will be getting into actual knitting. I hope you enjoy the videos I’ll be presenting. I plan to add many more knit videos while introducing new techniques and projects to try them out. The number of different stitches and techniques compared to crochet is insane!! Just looking at the knit cast on, which is equivalent to our crochet foundation chain, you can start your project over 40 different ways! But don’t worry, most projects use the same techniques over and over. You definitely don’t need to learn all 40 cast ons to make projects you will love.

So start watching below and subscribe to the blog so you don’t miss out on the rest of the series.
