Yarn Selection
You will need approx. 750 yards of sport or light weight yarn to make the same size pictured. For the pictured blanket, I used Bernat Baby Sport in Baby Blue (21128). I’ve also included some more yarns below and different price points that I think would work wonderfully.

Knitting Needles Used For Pattern
You will need US 4 [3.5mm] 40″ circulars for this pattern. I’ve listed a favorite fixed cable version and a interchangeable set below.

Additional Supplies Needed
You will need two stitch markers to keep track of your border stitches.
I love how cute ChiaoGoo Stitch Markers are but they are also great stitch markers. They slide easily and come in many sizes in one package so you have one for every project you can think of.
The only other thing you will need is a yarn needle to weave in the ends. My favorite yarn needles are made of metal, they are easy to slide through any yarn. I like the Susan Bates option below.
Gauge For Pattern
Gauge is 4”= 16 sts and 20 rows in pattern to make the same size pictured. Don’t worry too much about gauge though since this is a blanket and nothing that needs to be fitted.
Special Stitch Used
Sk2p: Slip 1 stitch as if to knit, k2tog, pass slipped stitch back over.

Finished Measurements
The finished size of the blanket (when gauge is followed) is approx. 36” wide x 36” high.

The blanket is worked flat in rows with the border made at the same time.

Cast on 146 sts.
Beginning Border
Row 1-11: Knit.
Row 12: K9, pm, knit to last 9 sts, pm, k9.

Row 1: K to marker, sm, p1, *k3, p3; repeat from * to 1 st before marker, p1, sm, k9.
Row 2: K to marker, sm, k1, *k3, p3; repeat from * to 1 st before marker, k1, sm, k9.
Rows 3 and 4: Repeat Rows 1 and 2.
Row 5: K to marker, sm, k1, *yo, sk2p, yo, k3; repeat from * to one st before marker, k1, sm, k9.
Row 6: K to marker, sm, purl to marker, sm, k9.
Row 7: K to marker, sm, p1, *p3, k3; repeat from * to 1 st before marker, p1, sm, k9.
Row 8: K to marker, sm, k1, *p3, k3; repeat from * to 1 st before marker, k1, sm, k9.
Rows 9 and 10: Repeat Rows 7 and 8.
