If you’re new to crochet, no worries! I have many beginner tutorial videos to guide you through every step of the process. My tutorials are designed to be easy to follow and will help you master the basics and beyond. You can use the search bar anytime to look for a particular stitch or technique.
Crochet Stitches Used For The Scarf
The stitch used throughout the blanket is just simple double crochet with increasing and decreasing. If you are new to crochet, I have slower video tutorials available that will walk you through the double crochet stitches used in this pattern that you can watch before you start this project.
Yarn Selection

This chevron scarf pattern uses self-striping yarn to do all the hard work. For the scarf pictured above, I used approx. 410 yards of Schoppel Zauberball Crazy in Fliederduft (1699), which is one of my most favorite self-striping yarns to work with. If substituting, use a sock weight yarn to achieve the same size.

Another self-striping yarn I’ve come to love is James G Brett Shhhhhh Double Knitting. It gives a gentle, soft halo to your project and comes in beautiful color options. I love self-striping yarns for chevron patterns. You can also make a custom striped yarn by choosing your own colors. Or make it in a solid color for a cool monochromatic look.

Crochet Hook Used For Pattern

You’ll need a 4mm [US-G] crochet hook for this project.
After testing numerous brands of crochet hooks, I’ve narrowed down my favorites. Below, you’ll find my top picks, ranked from least to most expensive.
$

Clover Soft Touch Amour crochet hooks are my absolute favorite! Their comfy, soft handles make long crochet sessions a breeze.
$$

For just slightly more money, Etimo Tulip Crochet hooks are another winner in my book. With their cushioned, ergonomic handles and smooth hooks, they make crocheting with any kind of yarn super easy.
$$$

For those of you who like to splurge, Furls Crochet hooks are beautiful hooks made from resin, wood, and metal. Their ergonomic design and polished surfaces make each stitch smooth and effortless. Treat yourself to these elegant hooks for a truly premium crochet experience.
Additional Supplies Needed
The only other thing you will need is a yarn needle to weave in the ends. My favorite yarn needles are made of metal, they are easy to slide through any yarn. I like the Susan Bates option below.

Gauge For Pattern
To achieve the same size as listed below, you will need the following gauge: 4”= 24 STS and 8 rows in pattern. For this project, achieving an exact gauge isn’t critical, so don’t worry too much about it unless you want the exact same size scarf.

Construction
The scarf is worked flat in rows back and forth with the ends being joined afterwards to make it an infinity scarf.

Finishing
Turn project inside out, so right sides are facing each other. Hold ends together and use a yarn needle to mattress stitch the ends of the scarf together with long tail.
Note: The chevron pattern will produce wavy ends to the scarf, but you will see that the two ends are opposite wavy and they will line up when sewn together.
Weave in ends and block with your preferred method. You can also block before sewing if you prefer.
If you do not want it to be an infinity scarf, skip the sewing steps and simply block and enjoy!
