Yarn Selection
The pattern looks great with self-striping yarn. I used Lion Brand Ferris Wheel in Imaginary Garden for the one pictured and I love how it didn’t need blocking once it was finished. You will need approx. 500 yards for the same size scarf pictured.

You may substitute with any worsted weight yarn you like. I’ve got a few options below at different price points.
$

Brava Worsted by Knit Picks/We Crochet is a 100% premium acrylic yarn known for its softness, durability, and affordability. Available in over 50 solid colors, as well as striped, speckled, and tweed variations, it offers a wide range of options for various projects . Each 100g skein provides 218 yards of yarn, making it suitable for afghans, garments, and accessories. The yarn is machine washable and tumble dryable, ensuring easy care for everyday use .

Knit Picks Chroma Worsted yarn is an absolute delight, especially if you’re a fan of self-striping yarns like me. This yarn boasts a soft and smooth texture, making it a pleasure to work with. Its unique color transitions create stunning stripes and gradients, ensuring that every project is a visual treat. Made from a blend of superwash wool and nylon, it offers both warmth and durability.
$$$

Lang Yarns Frida is like wearable art on your needles. This super-soft, 100% extra-fine Merino wool yarn is a DK weight that’s machine washable, making it as practical as it is beautiful. Inspired by the bold, expressive palette of Frida Kahlo, Frida features vibrant self-striping colorways that create eye-catching projects with very little effort.
Knitting Needles Used For Pattern
You can use straight or circular needles for this project in a size 4.5mm [US-7]. Some of my favorite needs are made by Chia Goo. Their Stainless Steel Needles help the yarn glide like butter and the cord is made from nylon which keeps it untangled.

I’ve included some other great needles that I love below at different price points.

This affordable bamboo knitting needle set from Amazon has every size you’ll need to tackle any project. The smooth, lightweight bamboo makes them comfortable to use and helps prevent stitches from slipping off your needles.

If you’re starting out, a bamboo needle set is a great cost-effective choice—but if you’re serious about knitting and ready to invest, the Addi Click Set – Short Lace is in a league of its own. With sharp lace tips, smooth joins, and flexible cords, these needles make even the most intricate projects faster, easier, and more enjoyable.
Additional Supplies Needed
You will need two stitch markers I love how cute ChiaoGoo Stitch Markers are but they are also great stitch markers. They slide easily and come in many sizes in one package so you have one for every project you can think of.

The only other thing you will need is a yarn needle to weave in the ends. My favorite yarn needles are made of metal, they are easy to slide through any yarn. I like the Susan Bates option below.

Gauge For Pattern
Gauge is 4”= 14 sts in pattern to make the same size pictured. However, you don’t have to worry about gauge unless you want it the exact same size. Scarves are great projects for those of us (like me) who don’t enjoy having to make gauge before starting. Just be sure to note that your yardage requirements may change if you do not follow gauge.
