Simplicity Shawl
The Simplicity Shawl is a great beginner-friendly crochet pattern with a simple one-row repeat that makes it easy to settle into a relaxing project. It comes in two sizes and looks great in self-striping, variegated, or solid-colored yarn, so you can use what you have in your stash or pick out something new. Suggested Yarn

The non-ruffle shawl is made with Approx. 550 Caron Cloud Cakes Perfect Phasing Yarn in Lagoon (91012). If wanting the same size as the shawl pictured, you will substitute with medium worsted weight yarn.

Unfortunately the ruffle shawl yarn is no longer available, but for the same size pictured, you will substitute with approx. 575 yards of DK yarn.

Gauge For Pattern
To achieve the same size as listed below, you will need the following gauge:
Blue Version (no ruffle):

If you are not worried about having the exact same size, you don’t have to check gauge. Just be aware that your yardage requirements may change depending on the size you make.

Special Stitch Used in Pattern
Tall CH: This will be used instead of a beginning CH 4. You will pull up a loop as tall as a TR, then lock it in with another CH. Your first TR will be worked in the first ST of the row. The tall CH does not count as a stitch. This will eliminate the gap at the beginning of the RND. See the video tutorial for help.

Construction
The shawl is worked in rows from the bottom point up.
Abbreviations Used
- CH- chain
- SC- single crochet
- DC- double crochet
- RND- round
- ST(S)- stitch(es)
- TR- treble
- *…- pattern repeat, work the stitches after the asterisk across the body of the project. The pattern will tell you when to stop the repeat.
Special Instructions for Pattern
- Read through the pattern before beginning.
- The ruffle edge is optional and looks best on a solid or variegated color yarn since it will be worked around the entire shawl.
- The instructions are written for the ruffle shawl with the no ruffle in parenthesis. If there are no parenthesis, the instructions are for both sizes.
