This now forever free pattern will give you an introduction to Broomstick Crochet. This technique, also known as “jiffy lace” or “peacock eye crochet,” adds a touch of magic to your crochet projects. The combination of delicate lace and the rhythmic flow of broomstick stitches results in a unique and captivating design. Use the link below to get started.

What is Broomstick Crochet?
Broomstick crochet involves using a large knitting needle or dowel (resembling a broomstick) to create large loops in your stitches. This creates an open and airy fabric, perfect for creating projects that are loose and light. The free video tutorial will walk you through creating these stitches.

Materials

Knit Picks Lindy Chain yarn (affiliate link) is a delightful blend that seamlessly combines the softness of linen with the lightweight feel of cotton. This yarn is the perfect choice for summer projects and breezy accessories. Lindy Chain’s composition creates a fabric with a subtle sheen and excellent drape. Its breathability and cool touch make it an ideal option for warm-weather projects, providing both comfort and style. You can also substitute with any fingering weight yarn for the same effect.

Clover Soft Touch hooks (affiliate link) are my go-to favorite hooks. Designed with an ergonomic handle for fatigue-free crocheting, these hooks have a smooth aluminum shaft that effortlessly glides through yarn.

Lion Brand’s 19mm knitting needles (affiliate link) are the perfect size for crafting broomstick stitches. The large size of these needles creates oversized loops that define the charm of broomstick crochet. If you’re looking for alternatives, consider experimenting with 15mm or 25mm needles for a slightly different effect. The 15mm size provides a more compact and defined appearance, while the 25mm size accentuates the openness of the broomstick stitches, giving a more airy and ethereal quality to your creations. Ultimately, the choice of needle size allows you to tailor your broomstick crochet experience, offering versatility in achieving the desired texture and aesthetic for your Blossoms and Broomstick Crochet Pattern.
