Cozycomb Scarf
This cozy little scarf is a sweet way to use up the small bits of yarn tucked away in your stash. It only takes a small amount of each color, less than a quarter skein, so it is perfect for mixing and matching what you already have on hand. I used five colors for mine, but you can choose just a few shades for a simple look or add more for a soft, scrappy feel. It is an easy, comforting project that lets you slow down, play with color, and enjoy every stitch along the way.

Crochet Tutorials
If you’re new to crochet, no worries! I have many beginner tutorial videos to guide you through every step of the process. My tutorials are designed to be easy to follow and will help you master the basics and beyond. You can use the search bar anytime to look for a particular stitch or technique.

Crochet Stitches Used For The Scarf
For the scarf, you will be using the whole range of crochet stitches. Each round will use a different stitch from the center with double crochet, the 2nd round with half double and finally single crochet on the last. I have beginner tutorials on each stitch if you need a slower start. Click on the stitches to be taken to those.
Suggested Yarn

For the scarf I used Vanna’s Choice yarn. is a beloved and versatile yarn that has become a staple in the crafting community. Created in collaboration with the renowned television personality and avid crocheter, Vanna White, this yarn is celebrated for its exceptional quality and wide array of vibrant colors. Crafted from a blend of acrylic fibers, Vanna’s Choice offers a soft and easy-to-work-with texture, making it ideal for various projects such as blankets, scarves, and garments. Its durability and machine-washable nature ensure that your handmade creations will stand the test of time.
I used about 45 yards each of Vanna’s Choice yarn in the following colors:
- Dusty Purple (146) CE
- Chocolate Cake (128) CA
- Lullaby Pink (103) CB
- Aqua (102) CC
- Taupe (125) CD
Other Yarn Options
If you’d like to substitute another yarn for the scarf, look for any yarn in worsted weight. This is a great project for using up all the scraps in your stash. Get creative with your choices.
Below are some other options that are a great substitute for Vanna’s Choice, at multiple price points.

Brava Worsted by Knit Picks/We Crochet is a 100% premium acrylic yarn known for its softness, durability, and affordability. Available in over 50 solid colors, as well as striped, speckled, and tweed variations, it offers a wide range of options for various projects.
$$

Knit Picks High Desert Worsted is a premium 100% American-grown wool yarn made from a luxurious blend of Merino and Merino-Rambouillet fibers. With a tight twist that delivers excellent stitch definition, it’s perfect for showcasing textured patterns and cables. The yarn comes in a beautiful palette of jewel-toned solids and rustic heathers, inspired by the high desert landscape. Soft yet durable, it’s a great choice for cozy garments and accessories.
Crochet Hook Used For Pattern
You’ll need a 3.5mm [US-E] crochet hook for this project. This will create the same sized scarf and I have pictured when following gauge. If you would like the scarf to be bigger, simply substitute your hook for a larger size. All the way up to 6mm [US-J] would work for worsted weight yarn.
After testing numerous brands of crochet hooks, I’ve narrowed down my favorites. Below, you’ll find my top picks, ranked from least to most expensive.
$

Clover Soft Touch Amour crochet hooks are my absolute favorite! Their comfy, soft handles make long crochet sessions a breeze.
$$

For just slightly more money, Etimo Tulip Crochet hooks are another winner in my book. With their cushioned, ergonomic handles and smooth hooks, they make crocheting with any kind of yarn super easy.
$$$

For those of you who like to splurge, Furls Crochet hooks are beautiful hooks made from resin, wood, and metal. Their ergonomic design and polished surfaces make each stitch smooth and effortless. Treat yourself to these elegant hooks for a truly premium crochet experience.
Additional Supplies Needed
The only other thing you will need is a yarn needle to weave in the ends and possibly for joining depending on the method you choose.. My favorite yarn needles are made of metal, they are easy to slide through any yarn. I like the Susan Bates option below.

Gauge For Pattern
To achieve the same size as listed below, you will need the following gauge: each hexagon 2.5″ x 2.5″. However, with this being a scarf, gauge is not terribly important unless you want to make the exact same size scarf as noted below.

Finished Measurements
The finished scarf when following gauge is approx. 5″ at widest point x 50″ long. Read below on how to adjust the size.
Video Tutorial 1
This video tutorial will walk you through making the hexagon.
Video Tutorial 2
This tutorial will show you how to mattress stitch the scarf to join the hexagons at the end.
Video Tutorial 3
If you prefer to whipstitch the scarf together, this tutorial will show you how.

- You can make the scarf longer by making hexagons in multiples of 7 and following the diagram to add them to the scarf.
- Use a larger hook size to make the hexagons bigger as well. The hook size was chosen to make small dense hexagons.
