Crochet Stitches Used For Scarf

Suggested Yarn

The scarf pictured was made with approximately 600 yards of Malabrigo Lace in Violetas (68). Malabrigo Lace is a luxurious lace weight yarn made from 100% baby merino wool, known for its incredible softness and rich, hand-dyed colorways. It works beautifully for lightweight shawls, scarves, and delicate accessories where you want fluid drape and vibrant color.

Crochet Hook Used For Pattern
You’ll need a 3 mm crochet hook (US D) for this project to achieve the same size scarf when gauge is met.
After testing numerous brands of crochet hooks, I’ve narrowed down my favorites. Below, you’ll find my top picks, ranked from least to most expensive.

Additional Supplies Needed
The only other thing you will need is a yarn needle to weave in the ends. My favorite yarn needles are made of metal, they are easy to slide through any yarn. I like the Susan Bates option below.

Gauge For Pattern
To achieve the same size as listed below, you will need the following gauge: 4″ =24 STS x 10 rows in pattern. However, if you do not care about matching the exact size, you do not have to worry about making gauge.
Finished Measurements
The finished scarf when gauge is followed will be 8″ wide x 80 long. Perfect for wrapping and having long tails..

Construction
The scarf is worked flat along the long edge of the scarf.
Abbreviations Used
- CH: chain
- TR: treble crochet
- ST(S): stitch (es)
- *…- pattern repeat, work the stitches contained within the asterisks across the body of the project when called for. The pattern will tell you when to stop the repeat.
Special Instructions for Pattern
- Read through the pattern before beginning.
- To make your foundation chain easier to manage, use stitch markers every 20 to 40 chains to keep track of how many have been made.
- Adjust length by using a multiple of 6 + 5.

Scarf Instructions
CH 491
Row 1: Beginning in 5th CH from hook, *TR in each of the next 3 CHs, CH 3, skip next 3 CHs; repeat to last CH, TR in last CH.
Row 2: Turn, CH 4, *TR 3 times in next CH 3 space, CH 3, skip next 3 CHs; repeat across to last ST, TR in top of CH 4.
Rows 3-20: Repeat Row 2.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Block with preferred method.

I’m making this with a fingering weight alpaca blend yarn. I can’t wait to see how it looks after blocking. I used fewer chains because I wanted it wider as I have only 620 yards if this yarn, using a 4mm hook. Thanks for the easy pattern.
